Congratulations to Elyse Mann!

Elyse earned an honorable mention in this year's Fall Drive Lawn Sign design competition.

Few things inspire our feelings of school spirit, community, and joy like our Burlingame school mascots do. That's why when we saw Elyse Mann's entry for this year's Fall Drive Lawn Sign art competition, we knew it was special!

Elyse submitted her design last spring, during her final year at Washington Elementary (go Wildcats!). This year, she's started as a sixth grader at BIS, and is feeling that Trojan pride!

Our panel of judges recognized Elyse's bright yellow, mascot-themed design with an Honorable Mention because of her attention to detail and inclusivity. Elyse told us, "I entered the contest because I love to draw and to be creative. Coming up with the idea was the hardest. I wanted something to represent all of the elementary schools and BIS in Burlingame, so I decided to include the mascots for each school." Her drawing invokes the individual uniqueness and simultaneous unity of our public school communities.

Elyse's mom, Denise Kiang, said, "Elyse has always enjoyed art and drawing. When she went to a birthday party at a local art school when she was five, she was hooked. She’s taken class there ever since, and especially loves painting with acrylics and pencil drawings. We have several of her drawings around the house and at work." We can't wait to see where Elyse takes her art in the future, and we hope she decides to enter the Fall Drive Lawn Sign contest in the years to come!

BCE Fall Drive kicks off our fundraising for the school year. Help us start strong by investing in our students today and receive a limited edition lawn sign to proudly show your support of your school (while supplies last)!
