Community Spotlight: Tutoring Club

We are thrilled to have Tutoring Club as a Business Sponsor of BCE. As a parent of 3 boys in the district, Owner and Director of Tutoring Club in Milbrae, Arya Askari, knows the importance of helping kids build skills and unleash their potential.

Tutoring Club caters to students of all backgrounds and academic levels in San Mateo County, from pre-K to 12th grade, helping them acquire effective learning skills. Their acclaimed TC curriculum offers the tools and environment for each student to develop into a confident, self-driven learner for life. Tutoring Club firmly believes that educators play the role of mentors, and their team engages closely with students to establish a personal connection, recognizing that academic achievement and success extend beyond the confines of the classroom.

This blog post features an interview with Arya where he explains his decision to sponsor BCE and deepen his support of Burlingame Public schools.

Tell us about you and Tutoring Club:

My wife, Nicole, and I moved to Burlingame (from San Francisco - like many others) in 2012.  We have three sons: one at BIS and two at Roosevelt. They all play for Burlingame Soccer Club. We are thankful that our kids are surrounded by, and learn from, such talented and dedicated teachers, staff members, and coaches.

I have been in the tutoring business for about 24 years. In the early days of my career, I worked as a Director for Score Educational Centers and then as a Director for Sylvan Learning Centers. I opened my first Tutoring Club in the Inner Sunset District of San Francisco in 2005 and my second Tutoring Club in Millbrae in 2014. Tutoring Club offers customized programs for students K-12. We specialize in building solid academic foundations that help students to become confident, independent, self-motivated learners.

What do you like the most about the Burlingame Community?

I love just about everything about Burlingame, but, if I had to pick the thing that I love most, it would be our community's commitment to providing a high-quality public education to all Burlingame children.

Why does Tutoring Club support BCE?

Academic subjects are critical to a student's development, and so are non-academic subjects. A great student is a well-rounded student. The best student is a happy student. Non-academic subjects help students to discover and cultivate talents that go beyond the classroom. They also provide physical and creative outlets, exposure to new and different ideas, and the joy that students need in order to thrive.

Tutoring Club is honored to contribute to BCE so that Burlingame students continue to have access to the resources that will help them grow into healthy, open-minded, and happy people.

"We live, work, and learn in one of the greatest communities on the planet. Thank you for putting your all into everything that you do. Your hard work and dedication are inspiring and benefit us all. We’ll continue to support you in any way we can."- Arya Askari, Director of Tutoring Club Millbrae.
