Community Spotlight: Spiritual Psychology

Dr. Dara Goldberg, therapist and founder of Spiritual Psychology, is a parent of two Burlingame Public School students, and has experienced firsthand the many ways our schools and community help children and families build connection, confidence, and a strong sense of belonging.
What do you like the most about the Burlingame Community?
For Dr. Goldberg and her family, the Burlingame community has been home since 2015. With both of her children born and raised here, she has spent more than a decade experiencing the connections, relationships, and shared experiences that make Burlingame such a special place to call home.
“Since we first moved to Burlingame, it was clear that this community is one that cares for one another,” Dr. Goldberg shares. From local community center events and Music Together to summer camps and connections through the education system, her family has experienced firsthand the sense of safety and belonging that allows children and families to grow together.
That sense of community, connection, and safety is also at the heart of Dr. Goldberg’s professional journey.After earning her PhD in Clinical Psychology in 2009, Dr. Goldberg worked with the Crisis and Triage team at Kaiser Permanente in Redwood City and continued working within local care communities. Her experiences eventually led her to develop Spiritual Psychology, bringing together her passion for humanity, community, personal growth, and creating safe spaces for people to learn and connect.
Why do you support BCE?
As her own children progressed through the elementary and middle school years, Dr. Goldberg saw firsthand the important role BCE programs play in the lives of Burlingame students.
Music, performing arts, world languages, and physical education provide students with opportunities to discover themselves, build confidence, connect with others, and grow beyond the traditional classroom. For Dr. Goldberg, these programs reflect the very values she strives to foster through her own work.

Creating Access and Connection
Spiritual Psychology was created to provide a safe space for community members to grow and learn, while collaborating to help remove barriers to healthcare. Dr. Goldberg works closely with the needs of the community and welcomes feedback and suggestions from those around her.
Her commitment to building a more connected and supportive community is one that closely aligns with BCE’s mission to enrich the educational experiences of Burlingame students.
