BCE Distinguished Service Award 2023

BURLINGAME COMMUNITY FOR EDUCATION FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES RECIPIENT OF 2023 BCE DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD

BURLINGAME, CA, October 30, 2023 – Burlingame Community for Education Foundation (BCE) is pleased to announce that it has awarded the 2023 BCE Distinguished Service Award to David & Liza Levitt and Kristin & Rob Flenniken. This award recognizes their exemplary volunteer service, leadership, and commitment to the BCE mission to help Burlingame School District sustain and enhance an exceptional public education for all TK-eighth grade students.

Selecting this year’s recipients from families who graduated eighth grade at Burlingame Intermediate School this past spring was particularly difficult as the organization has accumulated many incredibly deserving volunteers who have supported BCE over a sustained period of time.

David has served as BCE’s pro bono attorney for well over a decade, providing annual training to incoming directors. David was instrumental in revising BCE’s nonprofit bylaws and current board structure. The Levitt family has gone above and beyond in their support of the organization through volunteer service and financial support over the years for the benefit of all schools in the Burlingame School District.

Kristin was Roosevelt Elementary Site Director who led unprecedented donor growth within the Roosevelt family community during her tenure. In addition, Kristin and Rob have been exceptionally generous with their volunteer time and financial support to BCE over their many years in the district.

BCE’s mission, providing Burlingame School District (BSD) with financial resources to create a rich and inspiring education for our children beyond what is possible with public funds, is accomplished within a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is almost entirely staffed by volunteer workforce including a 18-member Board of Directors and more than 100 Volunteer Corps and day-of-event volunteers.

“The success of our organization at raising money every year for our public schools has everything to do with the number of dedicated and talented parents who volunteer their time on behalf of BCE. This year’s recipients are particularly committed to ensuring that our Burlingame public schools have the means to provide all our children with an excellent education. It is with great pleasure that we recognize them with a nod to all our hard-working volunteers and for their dedication to our mission,” says current BCE President Jen Faber.

The Levitts and Flennikens will be honored at the second annual BCE Endowment Fund celebration event on December 3, 2023 at the Burlingame Public Library. Please email endowment@bcefoundation.org for more details.
