As the BCE business partner network continues to grow, we’re excited to introduce one of our loyal supporters and proud Burlingame residents, Raziel Ungar. Let’s hear from him about his love of Burlingame and his passion for educational excellence.

Raziel Ungar, proud to call Burlingame home

Born and raised right here in Burlingame, Raziel Ungar is as local as it gets. He attended Burlingame Intermediate School, graduated from Burlingame High School in 2000, and later earned his degree in Education from UCLA. Today, Raziel is married and the proud dad of an 11-year-old son in sixth grade.

In 2005, Raziel launched his real estate business with a focus on residential properties, serving the Burlingame, Hillsborough, and San Mateo communities down to San Carlos. His passion for helping people and his deep roots in the area have made him a trusted partner for families looking to make Burlingame their home.

What do you love about Burlingame?

I love that Burlingame feels like the perfect place to live — it’s so family-friendly, with an incredible food scene that stretches from downtown Burlingame to Broadway. But what really makes this community special is the people. I’m constantly inspired by the mix of longtime locals and new residents from all over the world who’ve chosen to make Burlingame their home.

Whether I’m chatting with parents on the BSC soccer fields, meeting someone at an open house, or working with a client launching a new company, I’m surrounded by fascinating, passionate people. It makes living here truly fun and enriching every single day.

We’re fortunate to live in a place that people choose to call home. Many Burlingame residents could live anywhere, yet they stay, or come back, because there’s simply nowhere else quite like it. Friends return from travels abroad, inspired by the food, culture, and adventure they’ve experienced, but still say, “Where else could I live?” Burlingame offers something truly special: the ability to walk to a charming downtown, be minutes from SFO and a world-class city, all while surrounded by our stunning tree canopy. When you think about the density and beauty of our trees compared to most other towns on the Peninsula, it’s remarkable. Burlingame is a rare blend of community, convenience, and natural beauty.

Why do you support BCE?

As a proud product of public education, it’s a natural fit for me to support strong public schools. BCE is truly the heart and soul of our community. BCE is the reason Burlingame schools stand out as some of the best. Here in Burlingame, we have incredible leadership and amazing teachers, but BCE is what transforms our schools from good to great. In my work, I see firsthand how often families choose Burlingame because of the schools. It’s one of the top reasons people decide to move here: whether they’re leaving San Francisco with a young child or transitioning from renting to owning, the reputation of our schools is a major factor.

Without BCE, we simply wouldn’t have essential programs like music, PE, and performing arts, the very experiences many of us grew up with and want our kids to enjoy as well. Unfortunately, California’s current education funding structure, particularly around property taxes, leaves Burlingame at a disadvantage compared to other communities with similar home values. That’s why BCE’s role is so vital.

Supporting BCE isn’t just about strengthening our schools, it’s about investing in our community, our children, and the long-term value of Burlingame itself. Raziel Ungar Team, Compass

What message would you like to send to our Burlingame school teachers?

I majored in Education in college. I’ve always believed there’s no more valuable role in life, aside from being a family member, a parent, a son or daughter, than being a teacher. Some of my own teachers were instrumental in shaping who I am today. Mr. Tinker, Mrs. House, and Mrs. Greenley are names I’ll never forget. Those who can teach have a rare ability to inspire, to share knowledge, and to help students make sense of an increasingly complex world. If a child can graduate from the Burlingame School District as a critical thinker, someone who can question, understand, and engage thoughtfully with the world around them, that’s an incredible success. And that’s exactly what our teachers do every day.
