Meet
Mike Clay
Co-Hoover Site Director
Michael and his wife, Tina, moved to Burlingame in 2011 for its outstanding schools, strong community, and as a wonderful place to raise a family. They have loved being part of the Hoover Elementary community and are grateful for the teachers, staff, and families who make it so special.
Michael previously served as Co-President of the Hoover Social Club and was motivated to serve as BCE Co-Hoover Site Director after seeing the meaningful impact the BCE Foundation has on students and schools. He is excited to help strengthen community support and ensure Hoover students continue to have access to enriching educational opportunities.
In his professional life, Michael is the Founder and CEO of TraitCraft Biosciences, where he is working to build more sustainable and resilient food systems through science and innovation. He holds degrees from University of Michigan and University of Georgia, and completed postdoctoral research at Stanford University.
Tina is a postpartum nurse for Kaiser Permanente. They have two children, one at Hoover Elementary and the other at BIS. Outside of work, Michael enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking, rock climbing, road trips, and supporting the Burlingame community.
