Debbie believes that Burlingame Community Education Foundation’s support of the arts,

languages, and early intervention is crucial for our children’s education. Her three children have benefited tremendously from BCE’s mission: Megan, a 10 th grader at BHS, participated in Accents, the advanced choir at BIS; Lucy, an 8 th grader at BIS, and Charlie, a 5 th grader at McKinley, both play trumpet in the school band; and all three were students in the Dual Language Immersion Spanish Program beginning in kindergarten and are bilingual.

Debbie’s varied career started with three years at Ernst & Young in Phoenix, quickly burning herout with 60 hour work weeks which led her to take a year off to backpack throughout Europe and study French at the Universite Paul Valery. Upon her return stateside, she moved back to the Bay Area and settled in San Francisco to work for a small consulting firm for several years. She headed abroad one more time to try to perfect her French working as a Travel Leader in France for Backroads, before returning to San Francisco and beginning her career as a financial advisor.

She moved to Burlingame in 2009 and immediately embraced Burlingame’s small town

walkability, community, excellent schools, and proximity to the Bay.

Debbie has enjoyed volunteering for years, inspired by her mother’s dedication to her students at the low income schools where she was the reading specialist. Before becoming a parent and joining the BCE Board and McKinley PTA, she was a dedicated member of Menlo Park Rotary, volunteered with Junior Achievement, and worked with foster children.

In her spare time, Debbie loves to run, bike, lift weights, read, and travel.
