Meet Helen Foo, VP New Families

Updated: Sep 2, 2022

Helen Foo had no doubt in her mind that Burlingame was the place she would call home, after living in four countries and three states. Prior to settling in Burlingame in 2016, she and her husband Ken lived as expats in Asia for four years with their two boys.

Helen’s decision to join the BCE Board of Directors as VP of New Families had a lot to do with her own education. “I arrived in the U.S. as an immigrant, not knowing a word of English. I feel that my public school education helped me to discover my passion for math and science which prepared me for an education at MIT for both undergraduate and graduate degrees” she explained. “Everyone should have access to an excellent free education like I did, and with the help of BCE, our schools can provide that. This Board position really appealed to me because I want our new families to have a great experience in all of our schools and discover their talents.”

The busy mom of two boys enjoys building innovative technology companies and volunteering her time in various community projects. In addition to BCE, she also serves as a volunteer for the Burlingame Aquatics Club and the BIS site council.

In her free time, Helen enjoys investing, cooking and playing golf with her family, and running. In fact, if you like running, food, and wine, she highly recommends the Marathon du Medoc, a marathon she did in Bordeaux, France, which combines all three!

Be sure to say hello to Helen when you see her around town or on Zoom, especially if you are new to Burlingame schools!
