BCE Volunteer Opportunities

BCE is all of you who give your time and money to make our schools the best. There are volunteer opportunities available as a board member, school representative, or as a member of an event committee. BCE is a volunteer-driven organization and depends on volunteers to run its events each year. Please support BCE by donating your time and skills.

Board

Recruiting Chair
Works with Site Chairs to identify volunteers for Board positions, chair positions and committees.

New Family Chair
Introduces new parents to BCE and its role in the Burlingame School District. Recruits and works with a New Family Representative at each elementary school.

Site Chair – BIS, Franklin, Lincoln, McKinley, Roosevelt, Washington
As the face of BCE at each school site, works with PTA, principal and parents to communicate BCE information and coordinate volunteer support for Pledge Day.

Lead Donor Chair
Establishes one-on-one communications to identify and reach out to lead donors and potential lead donors. Coordinates lead donor events.

Webmaster Chair
Maintains the Web site, ensuring it reflects current messages and meets strategic goals of the organization.

Information Management Chair
Manages the entry and maintenance of all data, including donations to the annual fundraising campaign and events, using the Telosa database.

Direct Mail Chair
Sends thank you letters and tax receipts for donations to the annual campaign.

Ex-Officio Board of Directors

Annual Campaign Treasurer
Records and tracks all donations (checks, cash, credit cards, matching donations, United Way and matching pledges.

Controller
Processes and deposits all cash, check and charge transactions for the annual campaign.

Dinner Dance Event Chair (or Co-Chairs)
In concert with Auction Chairs, sets and develops theme and "look" for the event. Recruits, instructs and oversees committee heads as well as leads efforts to promote the event.

Dinner Dance Auction Chair (or Co-Chairs)
In concert with Auction Chairs, sets and develops theme for the event and promotional materials. Recruits, instructs and oversees a committee which solicits auction items, packages them for auction, works with auctioneer to prepare for auction and oversees distribution of items.

Executive Board

President
The President is the primary face and voice of BCE. The President leads the organization as goals are set and programs are executed. In addition, the President is responsible for ensuring that the Board of Directors and its members are aware of and fulfill their governance responsibilities, comply with applicable laws and bylaws, conduct board business effectively and efficiently, and are accountable for their performance.

Treasurer
The Treasurer manages the finances of BCE and presents monthly financial report to the executive board. The duties of the Treasurer include managing money for maximum yield, tracking all deposits and expenditures, paying bills, filing annual tax returns, and ensuring non-profit status.

Secretary
The Secretary ensures that accurate and sufficient documentation exists to meet legal requirements as well as to enable authorized persons to determine when, how, and by whom the Board's business was conducted. The Secretary records minutes of meetings, ensures accuracy and availability then distributes them in a timely fashion following a meeting of the Board of Directors or Executive Board.

Vice President of Marketing
The Vice President of Marketing is responsible for the planning and execution of BCE's Annual Campaign, including writing fundraising and marketing materials. This includes developing a communications strategy and strategic messaging that enables BCE to effectively target existing donor base and attract new donors.

Vice President of Business Development
The Vice President of Business Development develops the sponsorship packages for all BCE fundraising events and oversees all advertising solicitations to underwrite BCE events. This includes working with the business community to sell advertising and acting as a BCE ambassador.

Vice President of Outreach
The Vice President of Outreach coordinates all BCE messaging and communication, ensuring it is distributed effectively at each site. This includes planning and implementing programs reaching out to the school communities and serving as the BCE representative to the PTA Council.
